I received this ebook from NetGalley for an honest review.Robert Grant was a wounded, broken twenty year old after leading his clansmen to their deaths on the plains of Culloden. With his father's assistance he leaves his beloved Highlands to rebuild his life. Ten years later he takes the chance of being arrested as a traitor to return to his family, clan, and land. In the meantime at his home, Lochrose, his stepmother and wicked half brother just want to spend the estates monies for their own pleasures. The earl (Robert's father) takes matters in hand to hire a factor to put the estate back on its feet. The factor comes with a beautiful red haired daughter,( Jessie) who attracts Simon's (the half brother) attention. Simon thinks his time has come to have at Jessie when her father lefts to collect rents. She runs away, along the way she encounters Robert. They quickly fall for each other, especially once some misunderstandings are cleared. But will they be able to have their HEA? This story has not one but two villains, one taking over when the other is unable. Does the dastardly Simon ever gets what he wants (Jessie) or will Robert be able to stop him? And what about Robert, he is considered a traitor, will it result in prison? In execution? This is a very entertaining book, hard to put down once started. Highly recommended.

I really loved, The Master of Strathburn, by Amy Rose Bennett! This Scottish adventure took me by surprise and kept my interest until the very last page. The characters were charming, in fact I found Robert Grant the perfect gentleman for the brave heroine Jessie Munroe.
It tells the story of Robert Grant, returning home to Lochrose Castle in the Highlands, to ask forgiveness, to his long-estranged father, William, the Earl of Strathburn. Feeling responsible for the death of his Jacobite brothers, during the battle of Culloden, he is seeking redemption, having become a fugitive. During, his journey returning home, he meets a brave young woman, Jessie, who is fleeing his father's castle. Their attraction is mutual and a new relationship of trust and love, will developed with time. Let's not forget, Robert's half brother, Simon, who will complicate matters and make them worse. Will Robert and Jessie, finally find peace and love into each other's arms!
Truly a captivating Scottish tale to please lovers of historical romance! The characters were nicely blended into a journey filled with twists and turns. The love scenes were nicely written, the pace was perfect, this tale had everything to please me! Amy Rose Bennett never disappoint me!

The Master of Strathburn kept me well absorbed for a day and a half, always a wonderful thing. The hero, Robert Grant, the titular “master,” displays all the traits I want in a hero courage, honor, protectiveness, intelligence, and, of course, passion. His past, his challenges, his loves, his losses—are vividly portrayed. He kept me in the story. Jessie, his love, could be a bit of a ninny at times, but she came through in the end, getting stronger as the story went on. The villain, his evil half-brother, never stood a chance. The setting and period details are spot on.
Highly recommended.
I've read some of the author's other novels but this one is less cliche'd and more complex. The characters are better defined as well.
A very enjoyable story...I couldn't put it down. First time reading from this author and it won't be my last. Great job!
I realize I'm in the minority here but I didn't like this. I found it so hard to believe H&H were so in love after two short days.
There was also way too much of "telling not showing". I wanted more dialogue between the characters to reveal the story, not the author just telling us.
Also, the villiains-the stepmother and her son, seemed like caricatures because they were both so totally evil.
Lastly the words used to create sexual tension seemed out of place for the story and characters. It was jarring.
Here is another wonderful story by Amy Rose Bennett. It is a story of misunderstanding people just because they mistook something they seen. The Hero was afraid that his father still mad at him and still didn't want to see him but it took the heroine to get him to meet with his father in secret. How his brother and stepmother treated Jessie and him was a disgrace.! You will have to read the story to find out how it all worked out.
