I found the book to be a nostalgic remembrance of her deceased husband as well as her desire to get on with her life. The characters she interacts with are interesting and amazing. Guided by her husband's spirit she take off and in return puts her life in danger by one deranged man who bothers her with e-mail threats of death. She is embraced by her neighbors in the old Brickell avenue elite from all walks of life. I thoroughly enjoyed the many aspects of this book and am waiting for his next publication.Product details

Great quick enjoyable read with memorable characters; great storytelling. Quite impressive for Mr. Lapham's first published book.
When this book was recommended I was hesitant to read it because I am usually drawn to mystery, suspense, etc. I am very glad that I read the book. I adore Mrs. Sweeney and would love to have her as a friend. There are many subplots and a wide variety of key players in the book that will keep your interest. I grew up in Miami and as a result it was fun reading about the many familiar locations. Can't wait for the next novel by David Lapham.
You will enjoy reading this! It is fast paced and filled with great characters and situations. The story takes place in Miami and from the beginning it will draw you in. You find out at the beginning who the "ghost" is and you begin to see how he guides the main character, Marjory...until she no longer needs "his" help! She turns out to be amazingly strong. There are a lot of surprises and I would count this as an excellent weekend read.
What happens to a real Miami housewife when her husband dies, but comes back to dole out advice on starting over? David Lapham's debut novel, The Ghost and Mrs Sweeney, manages to combine a paranormal "Murder She Wrote" with the Real Housewives of Miami, and in the process paints a story of love, loss, murder, mayhem and even a little well intentioned detective work. The tale is even interwoven with some worthwhile risotto recipes and a charming insight into the Miami of the new millennium. Down load a sample, give it a try, you'll find yourself sucked in, and before you know it you'll be going for the rest and you won't regret it for a moment.
